A rare tidal dial clock with dial in typical Northern fashion. The pointer in the arch is movable so can be set to show high water at any location in conjunction with the moon-phase position.
Archibald Strachan is listed as working from around 1740 and died in 1808.
From its style this clock is likely to date to the 1770s.
All in good condition, fully working, the movement has been cleaned and serviced. The case with some typical age-related wood movement and monor dings.
Complete with lead weights, brass-face pendulum, winder and trunk door key for working lock.
Overall height without finial is 89 inches, with finial installed 94 inches.
